Truth be told we are all immigrants or descendants of immigrants. We all have the same goal, to work hard and make the best of our lives. For some of us, the journey is different. This project is about photographing the lives of those who had to risk everything, run from war, poverty or oppression to come to the United States in search of the American dream. Through these images I hope to open eyes and hearts into the lives of men and women who came here not only to improve their reality and build a better future for their families, but also to create a positive impact and contribute to society. The determination, dignity and hope I found while photographing these immigrants from Asia, Africa and Latin America restored my faith in human strength and reinforced my belief in the true meaning of the American dream.
